1960s

Description:
This assembly was developed by Leslie Rendell Baker while he was a senior lecturer in the Department of Anaesthetics in Cardiff. His objective was to provide a low dead-space, infant breathing system that also posessed low breathing resistance. The 22 mm taper mask mount is therefore divided with the variable orifice spill valve and fresh gas obturated connector on one side and the 15mm male system ( or bag) connector on the other. The Rendell-Baker Soukec mask was also designed to minimise deadspace having been fashioned on casts of infants' faces. The material is acrylic.
