Description:
This is a simple, closed system device that was designed especially for short dental procedures. A sea sponge is included in the vaporisation chamber. In use, a reservoir bag is permanently attached to the base. It is filled with patient's exhalations before anaesthesia commences. The swivelling top has three settings, OPEN, CLOSED and FILL. The vaporiser is charged with Vinesthene, poured through the filler cone from a 3 ml. ampoule. Anaesthesia is induced in rather less than one minute of rebreathing and lasts for a further 45 seconds. Recovery takes a about 1 minute before the patient is fit to stand.

Di-vinyl ether, (Vinesthene), CH2:CH.O.CH:CH2 was first used in anaesthesia in 1930. It is a highly flammable, clear, colourless liquid, B.P. 28.3°C. Its vapour is non-irritating to breathe and causes rapid induction of anaesthesia.
